If you are visiting Bali in 2026, there is a small tourist levy to budget for. It is easy to pay and inexpensive, but it does catch some travellers by surprise at the airport, so here is what to expect.
What the levy is
Bali introduced a tourist levy in 2024 to help fund conservation and cultural preservation on the island. It applies to all foreign visitors, regardless of the visa you hold, and it is separate from your visa fee.
How much it costs
The levy is 150,000 rupiah per person, roughly 9 to 10 US dollars. It is a one off payment for your visit, not a daily charge, which keeps it modest even for longer stays.
How and when to pay
You can pay online before you travel through the official Love Bali platform, or on arrival. Paying in advance and saving the QR code is the smoother option, since it means one less thing to sort out after you land. Keep the confirmation on your phone in case you are asked to show it.
What it does not cover
The levy is not a visa and does not extend your stay. You still need a valid VOA, e-VOA or other visa to enter, and you still complete the digital arrival card. If you are unclear on which visa suits your trip, our Bali visa agency team is happy to help.
